The edgy biker chic style was a fire-hot trend this summer, but with cool autumn temperatures settling in, we’re bundling back up in leather jackets and chic booties. This dangerously sexy style is coming back with a vengeance in slinky black, studded leather, and graffiti graphics. So how do you look like you just stepped off a Harley, but without looking like a Hell’s Angel?
The biker chic look is more versatile than you might expect! You don’t need to default to the traditional black leather jacket and Frye motorcycle boots (although it’s a classic style). You can go for a softer, more bohemian style with brown and beige, suede fabrics and fringe detailing, and Native American-inspired beaded and turquoise jewelry; or you can go for a harder, punk look with purples and blacks, zippers and studded Gothic detailing, and skull jewelry. You can put an edge to your biker style with Gothic jewelry and vintage rock band crop tops; or you can femme-up your style by pairing your leather with lace tops, pumps, and girly charm bracelets. The possibilities are endless.
The must-have item to rock the biker chic style is, of course, the iconic leather jacket. And again, you don’t have to default to the overused simple black. Have fun with your look by adding Gothic detailing with zippers and studs or streamline your look with slick lapels, nude colors, and fringes. If you’re not comfortable with leather skinnies, pair your jacket with a sexy belt or boots. If you’re bored with leather boots, try punk pumps. The fun to any biker chic style is playing with head-to-toe accessories. Don’t be afraid to over-use metals from skinny studded belts, accented jewelry, or embellished tops. Wear dark aviator sunglasses, worn by biker babes to protect their eyes from the sun on long days on the road, which give an instant cool factor. Accessorize your windswept locks with bohemian fringe, feathers or a classic American flag bandanna.
