When the snow is falling and temperatures are dropping below freezing, it’s easy to feel fine about staying inside on the couch all day. However, winter lasts for a few very long months, and lounging around 24/7 is not good for your mind or body. It’s also not good for your relationships. Sure, there’s nothing like cuddling near the fireplace or painting your nails while gossiping, but there is only so long that this can continue on before you start feeling down.
We’re at about the halfway point for winter, so it’s time to get out there! Here are three fun ideas to do with your man or your best girlfriends.
Painting Pottery – Painting pottery is a perfect winter activity. At most places, you go in and start by browsing the selection of pre-made pottery pieces. There is everything from coffee mugs, to serving dishes, to Disney figurines. Once you’ve decided on a piece, you then choose what colors you’re going to use. It’s super relaxing to sit around chatting with friends while painting something that you get to take home. It’s also a great way to get your creative juices flowing.
Indoor Glow Golf – Indoor glow golf has really taken off recently. Typical putt-putt golf places are usually located outdoors and are only open during the summer season. But why limit the fun of mini golf to the warmer months? Indoor glow golf is such a fun afternoon excursion. Most indoor golf places are decorated with glow-in-the-dark paints and feature glow-in-the-dark golf balls. Not only is it a cool sight, but it’s great to walk around and play a game. For some, it’s even a chance to get a little competitive!
Museums – Pretty much every city has at least one museum. The size of the city probably determines the size of the museum, so if you’re not interested in your town’s local museum, take the drive to the nearest large city. There are all different types of museums, so it shouldn’t be hard to find one that interests you. Whether you like science, art, or history, there are some great museums out there! Grab a coffee at a local shop and spend the afternoon exploring and learning in the museum.
What are you planning on doing to beat the winter blues?
