One of my absolute favorite trends for the spring is from my favorite stylist Brad, star of “It’s a Brad, Brad World” on Bravo. If you don’t watch that show, you must, as it is everything you could ever want in a reality television show. He is obsessed with what he calls the POC (“Pop of Color” for you non-Bravo-watching-sleeping-under-a-rock-people). And if you are going to add a POC, you might as well go all out and break out your 80s neon!
That’s right ladies, this 80s inspired look is back in full swing, but leave the sweatbands and leg warmers at home. I am talking about channeling your inner wild child in a more sophisticated way. Pairing your favorite neutral outfit, like a white tee and cut-offs, is the perfect canvas to add a splash of neon for a fun, youthful spin.
I know neon colors scare a lot of people — they’re definitely not colors to wear if you want to blend into the crowd. But for me, fashion and personal style should always be fun and make a splash. Therefore, I am definitely an advocate for this look. I don’t know another trend this season that makes more of a showstopping impact than the mix of neons and neutrals.
You can achieve this look through your accessories, like a neon pink earring or electric colored clutch, a bright dress or even your lipstick. With so many ways to mix neon in your wardrobe, no matter what kind of fashion risk taker you are, there is bound to be a way you can make this work. So WERK it ladies, and don’t be afraid to rock this big, BOLD statement.
