Julia Engel isn’t your typical 21-year-old blogger. It hasn’t even been a year since she started Gal Meets Glam, and she already has thousands of devoted followers that can’t get enough of her feminine and classic style, red lipstick and all. We’ve been in love with this gorgeous girl since the first time we came across her blog, and if you’re not already, you will be too.

Name: Julia Engel

Blog: Gal Meets Glam, www.galmeetsglam.com

Age: 21

Hometown: Stockton, CA

Your Blog:

What made you decide to start blogging?

I wanted a place where I could share my love for amazing deals, fashion, personal style and beauty. I had never even looked at a blog before I started mine! There was this whole world that I discovered and now I’m hooked.

How did you come up with the title “Gal Meets Glam”?

I like to add a touch of “glam” to my look everyday, whether it be a swipe of red lipstick, a vintage necklace or some killer high heels. It really does add a bit of excitement to your day.

Your Style:

How would you describe your personal style?

Feminine, classic, colorful and ever-changing!

Where do you get the inspiration for your outfits?

From so many things! Street style, magazines, other bloggers, designers, colors. I get so excited when I see something I love and want to re-create it in my own way.

Where are your favorite places to shop?

Zara, Shopbop, TopShop, J. Crew, H&M… too many to count or list!

What’s your favorite thing in your closet?

Hmmm… this is a hard one. It’s probably between my grandma’s vintage Chanel bag or my new Stella McCartney bag. They are both timeless pieces that I will have forever.

What are your favorite trends of the moment?

Well of course I love that really feminine looks are really in right now. A tailored shirt dress is on my list of must-haves for Spring!

Your Beauty:

What are some products you can’t live without?

Kerastase hair products are amazing! I use the Elixir Ultime, Aqua-Seal and Ciment Anti-Usure. A Clarisonic — it makes your face SO soft after you use it. I also have been using Trish McEvoy eye serum for dark/puffy eyes; a must for a student that doesn’t get a lot of sleep. Also, I have been using Latisse for about 5 months and it works wonders.

If you only have time to apply a few makeup products in the morning, which ones do you reach for?

Makeup Forever HD foundation mixed with my moisturizer and a dash of bronzer.

Your hair is gorgeous. Do you have any tips/tricks to keeping it so healthy and vibrant?

I let my hair air-dry as often as I can and use hot tools as little as possible. I take Biotin vitamins which help in hair growth and overall health. Also, Kerastase hair products are a life saver.

Your Life:

What does your typical day look like?

Well now that dance is over, my schedule is a little less hectic. And it’s about to change even more since I am graduating from college in about a month. But right now (depending on the day) I either wake up and go to class, go to work, go to class again, meet my fiancé to take blog photos, go to any meetings/meet with any groups for projects, come home and work on homework/a new blog post and then go to bed. Not a very glamorous day. I do enjoy waking up about an hour early to get my day started and get ready. I don’t like feeling rushed and l enjoy putting something on that makes me feel confident and ready for the day.

What do you enjoy doing when you’re not blogging?

I love spending time with my fiancé Thomas. Unfortunately, he is in grad school and is currently in baseball season so it feels like we have a long-distance relationship. So when we get time together, we love to just relax and talk with a glass of wine. Spending time with my best friends is also really important to me. I love being outdoors and of course shopping!

How do you stay in such great shape? Do you have a certain workout routine?

Well, I was on my school’s dance team for 3 years which kept me in really good shape. We would work out at 5:30 a.m. every morning, practice in the evenings and dance at games on the weekends. Now that that’s over, I try and go to the gym a couple times a week and I’m going to start taking pilates classes again. (I used to take them in high school.)

What are you most excited about for the future?

I’m SO excited to move to San Francisco after I graduate. Thomas and I are moving in May when he’s done with baseball. I’m excited to start my first job after college and get my career going. Also, my wedding is in August and I can’t even contain my excitement for that!

Clearly, Julia is amazing and it’s hard not to love this girl! Be sure to check out Gal Meets Glam, follow her on Twitter, and “like” her on Facebook.
