Ever since watching Superbad back before my days of getting it in, I’ve been desperately afraid of lube. When I saw the Superbad, the only views I had on what took place during sex was by watching movies, where there obviously isn’t a moment where the dramatic sex scene pauses for a break to grab a bottle of KY.
In the movie, Seth makes it seem like “dried-up old ladies” are the only women who use lube, which made me think that young people like myself don’t use it. Ever. So when I first started having sex, I never though of using anything extra and it was great, but there was still quite a bit of friction. I started talking to my girlfriends about it to see if that’s how it was supposed to be, and they were shocked that I hadn’t been using anything other than a condom.
So, I did it. I got some lube. And I can tell you that if you thought sex was great before using it, you are in for the time of your life. This stuff is a miracle-worker.
Even though I’m not a dried-up, 80-year-old woman, I can say that lube is probably the best invention ever made… and I plan on continuing to use it until I actually am a dried-up 80-year-old woman.
What are your thoughts on using lube?

My boyfriend and I don’t use it and I don’t know how I would bring that up. Any suggestions?

Yes! The conversation might be awkward, so our advice is to just go out and buy it yourself, maybe at a place with a self-checkout if you want to avoid buying it from a cashier. The next time things are getting heated up, flirtily pull it out of your drawer. He’ll love that you took the initiative! (And, he’ll also love how much better everything feels, for both you and him!)

I wanna try! My boyfriend and I have been having a lot of quickies lately, and even though I’m turned on, I’m not exactly “ready to go”. We do it anyways and there is a lot of friction. I wanna ask but its like there’s no unawkward way to do it. :/

After I started birth control, I noticed I wasn’t exactly as “ready” as I had been before. My boyfriend and I actually ended up talking about it after I stopped things mid-way because it was on the verge of painful (it wasn’t been the first time that happened), and we both decided it was worth a shot. I was super nervous buying it, but it ended up being great for both of us. He likes it because it’s not as uncomfortable for me and it also feels great for both of us.

I used to think something was wrong with me because sex was painful. After reading a few articles, I decided to try using lube. I went and bought some for the boyfriend and me. I just explained to him that it would make things less painful for me and that it would feel good for him as well. I made sure to clarify that it wasn’t that sex with him wasn’t pleasurable, but that we needed to use something to eliminate some friction. He was perfectly understanding, especially after we tried it and loved it. Now I use it all the time. If you’re wanting to try it, but don’t want to spend money before you know you’ll like it, I know that Astroglide and Wet brands both offer free samples on their websites quite often. (Here’s a link to Wet’s sample page: http://www.stayswetlonger.com/wetfreesamples.php). I personally don’t like the warming/tingling varieties, but everyone is different.
